We appreciate your interest in Sunbuilt Retrievers. Puppy reservations are processed in the order of application receipt, prioritizing breeder picks, service dog prospects, and show dogs. Following the submission of your application, we will engage in personal contact and require a non-refundable reservation fee of $1,000. This reservation fee ensures your commitment and secures your place in welcoming a wonderful companion from Sunbuilt Retrievers into your home. In the event that there aren't enough puppies in a designated litter for your selection, your reservation fee will automatically carry over to the subsequent litter. Additionally, if the timing of a particular litter doesn't align with your preferences, or if the perfect fit puppy isn't available, you can request to apply your reservation fee to the following litter. Rest assured, your purchase is guaranteed, and we are committed to ensuring a positive experience throughout the puppy selection process.

Our commitment to delivering the perfect puppy involves a thoughtful, loving, and methodical approach in their upbringing. Together, we will collaboratively select the ideal puppy that aligns with your household preferences based on the puppy's individual temperament and drives, and your lifestyle and personality. Once we have selected a puppy, it will be reserved exclusively for you, and we will inform other prospective owners that it's no longer available. This occurs after 7 weeks of age but can be as late as 12 weeks depending on the circumstances of each litter.

Each litter is meticulously documented with thorough records, including photographs and detailed notes as we move through the Early Neurological Stimulation and Puppy Culture program. We ensure you stay informed about your puppy's development leading up to the pick-up date, providing regular updates and pictures of your puppy's littermates as they become available. We utilize social media as well by posting on Instagram and Facebook. Furthermore, we have dedicated Puppy Cams that we often share, allowing you to witness their journey from birth until the day of pick-up. The puppies are generally first located in the whelping area of our guest house where the mom and newborns can experience calm and peace away from our other adults, and we stay overnight in the room with the litter supervising in shifts so they are under 24/7 watch. This is where they are delivered, then they expand the whelping box into a weaning pen once eyes and ears open, then they graduate to the living room then finally in our dining room, bedroom, or sunroom. We have trainers come to temperament test the litter, we host in-person socialization parties, visit a veterinarian for exams and vaccinations, attend puppy yoga, work on crate training, potty training, clicker training, and car training with outings. We also offer Board & Train programs for a limited number of puppies each litter.

When you pick up your puppy you will receive a puppy packet containing the following:

• AKC registration of said puppy. If not yet in my possession, you will be provided with a bill of sale stating sire’s and dam’s name and AKC number, date of birth of puppy, and a guarantee that the AKC registration will be sent to you as soon as I receive it.

• Puppy health certificate from a license veterinarian.

• Vaccine and de-worming schedule, which must be followed.

• Several days supply of food as well as an excellent puppy safe supplements. Please keep the puppy on its current diet for a minimum of 2 months, or if you change its diet, do so very slowly and change to another we and your veterinarian have recommended.

• Lifetime support from the breeder and certified professional dog trainer.

• The cost of Sunbuilt puppies start at $3,000 and up (depending on the breeding - not color or sex) and are usually reserved before they are born.

We will not ship a puppy unless it can be transported aboard the plane as carry on luggage which must take when the puppy must fit in a carrier travel crate (17-by-8.5-by-12.5 inches). Due to this being unlikely for large breed Retrievers, we prefer ground transportation through a licensed, and insured reputable company. However, we will gladly meet you somewhere between our homes if the drive to Houston, Texas is too far for you to complete. We do reasonably charge for this service if this requires us to hire help.
